Tinctures Buying Guide

Tinctures Buying Guide

Tinctures are one of the most popular forms of CBD oil. But, if you’re new to CBD oil, tinctures can be confusing. This guide tells you everything you need to know CBD tinctures, including what they are, why you should use them, and how to use them.

What Are Tinctures?

Tinctures are a mixture of alcohol and water that are used to extract cannabidiol (CBD) from hemp. The hemp plant contains many different compounds, including many different cannabinoids. However, hemp only contains trace amounts of THC.

THC is the compound in marijuana that gets you high. CBD will not get you high. CBD tinctures do not contain any THC.

A tincture is a liquid form of CBD oil, also known as hemp oil. While it is possible to get CBD oil in many different forms, many people find tinctures to be the easiest and most convenient way to use CBD.

How Do I Take Tinctures?

Tinctures are either taken sublingually or added to your food or beverages. Sublingually means that you place a few drops under your tongue. This allows the CBD to enter your bloodstream through the arterial blood supply under your tongue.

You can also swallow a few drops of the tincture. However, this will require your digestive system, including your liver, to process the CBD before it enters your bloodstream.

Adding a few drops of CBD to your food or your beverage will not weaken the CBD, but it will take longer for the CBD to enter your bloodstream.

Even though tinctures are made with a high concentration of alcohol, you will not get drunk from using a tincture because you are only taking a few drops.

You should never add CBD to other people’s food or beverages without telling them. In many places, this may be considered food tampering and may be illegal. It is also not legal for you to add CBD to a food or beverage and to sell it.

You are allowed to add CBD to your own food or beverages for your personal use.

Why Should I Use Tinctures?

Tinctures are used because they are convenient, it is easy to control how much CBD oil you’re taking, and because when taken sublingually, the CBD enters your bloodstream quickly.

CBD will not start working with your body until it enters the bloodstream. The area under your tongue is one of the fastest ways for CBD to be absorbed by your body into your bloodstream.

The most common reasons people take CBD tinctures are to help with anxiety¹ or for pain control². Tinctures can also be taken as a natural, non-habit-forming sleep aid³.

Many people want the benefits of CBD, but they don’t want to vape.

Another common reason for using a tincture is that it gives you more direct control over your dose than an edible like a gummy or a capsule. You also have the ability to add CBD to your food or beverages.

Tinctures are an excellent way for beginners to take CBD because it is easy to control how much CBD they are taking at one time. Experienced CBD users like tinctures because it is easy to make sure they are getting all of the CBD they need as quickly as possible.

How MG is in One Drop of a Tincture?

If you’ve never used a tincture before, the different amounts of CBD in different bottles can be confusing. What is the difference between a 250mg, 500mg, and a 1,000mg tincture?

When a tincture lists an amount of mg on the bottle, it is telling you how much CBD is in the entire bottle. If you used all of the liquid in a 250mg tincture, you would have taken a total of 250mg of CBD.

Tincture bottles also come in different sizes. The volume of liquid in a tincture is listed as ml. Most tinctures are 30 ml, but you can also get different sizes.

The typical serving size of a tincture is one 1 ml. For most people, that will be one to three small drops.

Here is a chart that shows you how many mg of CBD are in 1 ml serving of a tincture based on a 30 ml bottle:

Total mg in Tincture Amount of mg in 1 ml of a 30ml bottle
125 mg
4.17 mg
250 mg 8.33 mg
500 mg 16.67 mg
750 mg 25 mg
1,000 mg 33.33 mg
1,500 mg 50 mg

The best way to think of the number of mg is a tincture bottle is to think of it as the potency of the doe. The higher the mg of CBD in the bottle, the more CBD there will be in a 1 ml serving.

What is the Best Dose for Beginners?

Like most supplements, the right dosage of CBD for you will depend on your size, metabolism, and your needs. People who are bigger will need a larger dose of CBD because of the body absorbs the compound.

You should treat CBD like you do any other supplement. You need to take as small a dose as possible to see how it affects your body. If you aren’t feeling any effects after 12 hours, take a slightly larger dosage.

It will take some experimentation to get the right dosage. By being cautious, most people are able to find the most effective dosage in one to three days.

If you are new to CBD, you should take a tincture sublingually, so you will be able to feel the effects faster.

CBD is not addictive⁴. However, it does have some side effects if you take more than your body can handle. If you experience any of the following symptoms, you should stop taking CBD and consult your doctor right away⁵:

  • Dizziness
  • Diarrhea
  • Lethargy

Most people will not experience any side effects from using CBD⁶.

Every day more people are finding relief from troubling symptoms with the help of CBD tinctures. CBD is safe and effective. Tinctures are one of the best ways for beginners to see if CBD is right for them.
